Can you hike or cross country ski near Denver in early November?
I'm planning a trip to the Denver/Boulder area in early November and wondered whether I could hike and/or cross country ski. Should I be concerned that trails in hiking areas like Rocky Mtn NP will be mostly inaccessible because of ice/snow but the nordic skiing areas will not have enough snow? Or am I pretty much guaranteed either good hiking or good XC skiing?
Totally depends on how much show falls between now and then. I have snowshoed not far from RMNP but usually not until early December. But some years we have started in October, other years not until January. Cross Country takes more snow, so I would expect to hike with poles to get through any patches of deep snow.
