The Waterfront Metro has a new entrance path on the west side of the escalators as of this morning. Fencing went up to close the fire lane area in front of Safeway.
That area in front of Safeway will become the metro plaza. Oculus provides me with the latest rendering that they have of the plaza. Soon we will be seeing what elements they will include.
A warning: you have to enter Safeway through the parking lot. Even if you come out of the metro, you need to go out to M Street and then walk to the parking lot to enter the grocery store.

Anybody else here rooting for some kind of a water feature, such as a fountain?
Nothing would encourage people to sit and enjoy the outside space more than water - even if it's just a small feature...
that would be nice. I have to say its quite annoying that it's on the other side, but at least they have actually started working. Hope this project is over soon.
The Metro Express lady needs to stand at the metro entrance. Why does she still stand by the Safeway?
