I just got a call from Councilmember Kwame Brown who assured me that the TIF money for the Southwest Waterfront Redevelopment was never on the table. That money is not slated until 2018. Councilmember Brown said that CFO Ghandi gave a list of all the TIF's approved by the City Council when he spoke to the Washington Business Journal, more than the ones which might be considered to be diverted. Councilmember Brown also assured me that the Arena Stage subsidy was never considered.
We should see some sort of correction on the part of WBJ.

Great to hear.
2018 is an absurdly long time. The Waterfront is never gonna happen. No reason it should take 9 YEARS from now.
Other sources have told me that the funds are for 2014.
But the 2018 number comes from the phone conversation with Councilman Brown.
The last phase of the three phases of the project was projected to be completed in 2017.
I just knew WBJ got it wrong. Or, over-hyped their article. And, that Councilpersons Brown and Wells would straighten things out.
